"We," "us," and "our" mean Masjid Al-Furqan — West Cobb Islamic Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious organization located at 3861 Ernest W Barrett Pkwy SW, Marietta, GA 30064.

2. About This Privacy Policy

We're a community masjid, and the trust of our community matters to us. This policy explains what information we collect from you, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

The short version: we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We collect information so we can keep you informed about prayer times, programs, classes, events, and the needs of the masjid — nothing more.

This policy covers our website, our email newsletter, our text message program, donation forms, event and program registrations, and information you give us in person at the masjid.

3. Information We Collect

We only collect information you give us directly. That may include:

Contact information. Your name, email address, mobile phone number, and mailing address when you sign up for our newsletter, subscribe to text message updates, register for a program or event, fill out a volunteer form, or become a member.

Donation information. Your name, contact information, donation amount, and donation history when you give to the masjid. Payment card and bank account details are collected and stored directly by our third-party payment processors — we never see or store your full card or bank account numbers.

Program and registration information. Information you provide when registering yourself or your children for classes, halaqas, youth programs, camps, or other masjid activities. This may include a child's name and age, a parent or guardian's contact information, and emergency contact details.

Volunteer information. Information you share when you sign up to volunteer, including your availability, skills, and areas of interest.

Communications with us. If you email us, text us, call us, or fill out a form on our website, we keep a record of that communication so we can respond and follow up.

Feedback and surveys. Anything you choose to share when you respond to a survey, give feedback, or submit a suggestion.

Website information. Our website may collect basic technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, and which pages you visited. We use this only to understand how the site is being used and to keep it working properly.

We do not collect sensitive information beyond what's described here, and we do not buy contact lists or collect information about you from outside sources.

5. Text Messaging (SMS) Program

If you opt in to receive text messages from Masjid Al-Furqan — West Cobb Islamic Center, here's how that works:

What you'll receive. Prayer time and iqamah changes, khutbah and jumu'ah announcements, event and program reminders, class schedules, volunteer opportunities, emergency or weather-related masjid closures, and fundraising or campaign updates.

How you opt in. You give consent by submitting your mobile number through our sign-up form at http://eepurl.com/q1D25w4ReZ, filling out a paper form at the masjid, or texting us to join. Messages are sent from +1 (470) 429-0359. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of donating, attending, or participating in anything at the masjid.

Message frequency. Message frequency varies.

Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details.

How to stop. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. You'll receive one confirmation message, and then we won't text you again unless you sign up again. For help, reply HELP or contact us at masjidalfurqanwcic@gmail.com.

Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your mobile information stays with us. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share your mobile number only with the service providers who help us send the messages (such as our messaging platform and mobile carriers), and only for the purpose of delivering them to you.

6. Email and Newsletter

We use Mailchimp to send our email newsletter and announcements. When you subscribe, your name and email address are stored in our Mailchimp account and used only to send you masjid communications.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email us at masjidalfurqanwcic@gmail.com and we'll remove you. If you unsubscribe from our newsletter, we may still contact you directly about something you specifically asked us about, or about a donation you made.

Mailchimp processes this information on our behalf and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes.

7. Donations and Payment Information

Donations to the masjid are processed through third-party payment processors and fundraising platforms. When you donate, your payment information goes directly to those processors — we receive confirmation of the donation, your name, your contact information, and the amount, but not your full payment details.

Those platforms have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your payment information, and we encourage you to review them.

We keep donation records as long as required for our nonprofit accounting, tax reporting, and audit obligations. Donor names are never published or shared without permission, and we do not exchange or share our donor list with any other organization.

8. Photos and Video at Masjid Events

We sometimes take photographs and video at masjid events, programs, and fundraisers, and may use them in our newsletter, on our website, and on our social media to share what's happening in our community.

If you'd prefer not to appear in photos or video, or you'd like a photo of you or your child removed after the fact, just let us know at masjidalfurqanwcic@gmail.com and we'll take care of it.

9. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Ever.

We share your information only in these limited situations:

Service providers. With the companies that help us operate — our email and text messaging platform, payment processors, donation platforms, website host, and the tools we use to keep donor and volunteer records. These providers may only use your information to provide services to us, and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.

Masjid staff and volunteers. With the board members, staff, and volunteers who need the information to run a program, coordinate an event, or respond to you.

When the law requires it. If we're required to disclose information to comply with a court order, subpoena, or law enforcement request, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of someone in our community.

With your permission. In any other case, we'll ask you first.

10. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 online. Information about children enrolled in our youth programs, classes, or camps is provided to us by a parent or guardian, and is used only to run those programs and to contact the parent or guardian.

If you believe a child has provided us personal information without a parent's involvement, contact us at masjidalfurqanwcic@gmail.com and we'll delete it.

11. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including limiting access to the staff and volunteers who need it, using reputable service providers, and keeping our accounts secured. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your information as an amanah and handle it accordingly.

12. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. Donation records are kept for the period required for nonprofit tax and accounting purposes. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information, we'll remove it from our active lists, though we may keep a minimal record of your request so we don't accidentally contact you again.

13. Your Choices and Rights

You can, at any time:

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we'll update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, let our community know by email. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
