Our program follows the official Scouts BSA advancement path, adapted to accommodate Islamic principles while fulfilling all scouting requirements. Scouts BSA is a national youth program open to both boys and girls ages 11 to 17 (or 5th-grade graduates through age 18). Unlike Cub Scouts—which is family-led—Scouts BSA is youth-led and youth-run, empowering youth to build outdoor skills, earn merit badges, and progress toward the Eagle Scout rank.
Troop 23 proudly operates under the charter of Masjid Al-Furqan West Cobb Islamic Center, offering a unique scouting experience that honors Islamic values while embracing the time-tested Scouts BSA program.
Troop 23 is chartered as a family troop structure welcoming both boys & girls, with completely separate boy and girl patrols following BSA guidelines. Adult leaders provide initial guidance, but the primary goal is to quickly hand the reins to the youth, creating a supportive environment where every scout can thrive and master self-reliance.
Through scout-led patrol structures, outdoor expeditions, and high-adventure service opportunities, we empower youth to lead their peers, serve their community, and prepare for lifelong leadership.
Registration is open year-round, with new scouts welcome to join at any time. Financial assistance is available for families who qualify—please speak confidentially with our Troop Committee Chair for details.

Yes! Cub Scouting is family-oriented and parent-led. At least one adult family member should attend meetings with their scout. We also need parents to volunteer as den leaders, activity coordinators, and event helpers throughout the year.
The $95 annual fee includes BSA national membership, and accident insurance. The $50 annual pack fee supports pack activities, and advancement badges. Additional costs may include uniform items, optional outings, and the Blue & Gold Banquet.
We schedule activities around prayer times, provide halal food options at all events, and ensure modest dress standards. Our program emphasizes Islamic values while fulfilling all BSA advancement requirements.
